Powers / Abilities:
Santos' physical body was changed and his body's natural state is now a human-like body of sentient electrical energy. This permanent change also gives him the ability to fly at lightning fast speeds and generate bolts of electricity of many thousands of volts.
While in energy form, Santos cannot be harmed by many physical or energy attacks. He may be harmed by magic or psionic abilities. As his body is ‘pure’ electricity, he is vulnerable to attacks with grounded, conductable materials.
Background / History:
Living Lightning first encountered the Avengers as an adversary, driven temporarily mad after accidentally gaining the ability to transform himself into electrical energy. He was later recruited as an unwilling agent of Doctor Demonicus and his Pacific Overlords, but ultimately turned against them to aid the Avengers. Since there was a vacancy in the western Avengers roster at the time, Living Lightning was offered active membership and accepted. Although his tenure with the team was short, he did participate in one of their biggest conflicts. He was selected as one of the Avengers to go to the Shi’ar Empire as an Emissary during “Operation: Galactic Storm” during which he held his own against such foes as the Shi’ar Imperial Guard and the Starjammers.
Later, Santos was among the many Avengers who battled Morgan Le Fay and participated in the post-Onslaught reorganization of the team. He has twice declined offers to rejoin the active roster, preferring to concentrate on his studies, but recently agreed to accept a detached service Avengers assignment as part of the crew manning their outer space monitor station in the asteroid belt. As the station's only current full-time resident, Miguel divides his time between monitor duty and distraction-free academic studies.
Weapons / Paraphernalia:
Stasis Suit: This suit was designed by Doctor Demonicus and modified by Hank Pym. Pods located on the hips of the suit emit a stasis field that allow Miguel to revert back to his physical body from his now natural energy state. By turning off the pods, he can assume the energy form of Living Lightning.
